Andrea Chappell

Andrea Chappell is a designer/maker who established her bespoke kiltmaking practise ACME ATELIER in N.E Scotland in 2020 following a 30 year career designing museums in cultural and heritage centres across the globe.  She now celebrates the culture and heritage of a person, or place within cloth, blending traditional skills with contemporary design in a combination of craft techniques that marry emotion and function.

She began her IV36 Initiative in 2021 to promote this now endangered heritage craft and champions the resourceful re-use of existing materials. Her circular economy model provides training opportunities for the next generation in her home town, Forres, whilst broadening the appeal of both kilts and kiltmaking with innovative pleating constructions and original textile designs to an international and inclusive audience.
