Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle

Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle

LONDON

Natalie Bennett, or Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle (which is in Sheffield) for formal occasions, became the second Green Party peer in 2019, having been party leader 2012-2016. She took part in the leader debates in 2015, and the party won more votes in that election than every previous one added together. She spent two decades as a journalist on three continents, finishing as editor of the Guardian Weekly, and is unusual in politics in that her first degree was in science - agricultural science at the University of Sydney. She campaigns particularly for a universal basic income, for food security and agroecology, and for a free, creative, enriching education system.
