Daniel Whittle

Daniel Whittle is the Managing Director of Whitby Seafoods, a family business started by his father in 1985, where he works alongside his sister, Laura, and brother, Edward. Whitby Seafoods turns over approximately £65m across two sites, employs over 450 people, and purchases from over 400 boats annually.

Given Whitby Seafoods focus on the UK scampi market, Daniel sees his role as torch bearer for this fantastic UK caught and UK consumed seafood. Being fortunate enough to have a great team around him allows him to focus his endeavours on helping make the UK ‘prawn’ fleet meet the economic and ethical demands of the 21st century. On a day-to-day basis, this includes chairing the Project UK FIP, being part of Scottish Nephrops Programme Board, and working closely with fishermen to explore what can be done to improve fishing.
