Hunter Matson

Hunter Matson is a trade policy expert with more than a decade experience working with central government departments in the United States, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.  He has a strong knowledge of WTO rules and agreements, and has specialised expertise in trade and gender, digital trade, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

Hunter is presently a trade policy & research specialist at the Institute of Export & International Trade where he leads the Institute’s work on trade policy and external engagement. Some of his recent work includes reports on TradeTech, the UK’s future borders and eCommerce marketplaces as a means of increasing exports from micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME). He has also participated on expert panels and roundtable discussions as part of the UK-US SME Dialogue, the WTO Public Forum and the Intelligence Forums, where he discussed recent geopolitical developments impacting global trade and policy initiatives needed to support more inclusive and sustainable trade.

Hunter holds a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a BA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
