Paul Thomas

Paul is an Honorary Professor at the University of Stirling and managing director of the truffle research and cultivation company, Mycorrhizal Systems Ltd. Having developed technology that produced the first cultivated truffles in a number of countries, current research activities are broad but have a keen focus on the food-forestry land use conflict. Addressing this issue with edible mycorrhizal fungi to promote woodland creation and create a food source on the same parcel of land, the associated benefits from socio-economic to ecosystem services, are vast. Other research interests include the impacts of climate change, carbon in food production and many areas of fungal biology.
