Scott Woyka

UK

Scott Woyka is a creative furniture designer maker based in Cornwall, with a 5 generation family history working with wood. Mostly designing to commission for private residences and collections around the UK, the company has also produced much work in the commercial arena, including work for the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, the initial fit-out of The Eden Project, and boat-building themed reception and furniture for “The Cove”, Macmillan Support Centre. His pieces are quite refined in nature though characterised by a natural organic feel, striving to create beautiful pieces with warmth, and soul and sometimes a gentle environmental narrative.

Woyka’s work came to international prominence in 2021 when his proposal was selected by the Prime Minister in a design competition to create bilateral meeting tables for the G7 summit in Cornwall. The symbolic pieces embodied the spirit of Cornwall, with elements of the Cornish coast carved and sandblasted in wood and engraved with Cornish tin “seams”, representing the industrial heritage and future mining of Lithium, and the challenging choices our current leaders face in looking after all of us and the planet.
