Shirley is Director & Owner of Velvet & Rose, Womenswear Boutique in Petersfield, Hampshire. She changed direction in her career when she opened up her boutique in 2018.
Her background is largely from working at Procter & Gamble for over 20 years in the Analytical & Regulatory departments. Gaining skills in analytical chemistry, novel technologies, marketing, products research, legal, regulations & more, her intrinsic ethos is that the 'consumer is boss' and that a product needs to have the right marketing behind it in order for it to succeed! This has naturally flowed into her career today where her customers are at the forefront of everything she sells. Shirley manages all aspects of the boutique whether it is buying, merchandising, marketing, accounting, training etc.
Shirley enjoys networking and working with like minded individuals & organizations. Her work with BIRA influenced the regulations for keeping changing rooms open in clothing shops and raising the awareness of supporting independent shops. Shirley also appeared several times on the BBC News, Radio 4 and the national press!
