Chris Dungworth, Business Doncaster, Presenting Doncaster to Intelligence Forums London

On 19thJuly Scott Cardwell from Doncaster Council and Chris Dungworth from Business Doncaster had the great pleasure of presenting information about Doncaster, South Yorkshire and the development opportunities available for investors. The meeting was highly enjoyable and Scott and Chris were impressed with the warm welcome they received, the enthusiasm from the audience for learning about Doncaster and the organisation of the event by Harry Corbett and colleagues. The main messages from the evening are that:

With strong public and private sector partnerships, ambitious long term growth plans, a perfectly connected rail, road, air and sea network and a determination to deliver development and regeneration, Doncaster is quickly becoming THE ideal place to invest.

 

On the road to growth

Great Yorkshire Way, the new link road to the Airport is one of the region’s most successful projects and a great example of how investing in transport infrastructure unlocks international connectivity, new housing, tourism and commercial development. The opening of this link road provides superb access and unrivalled opportunities to invest in key sites including:

 

iPort

iPort is South Yorkshire’s premier logistics hub. The 6 million sq ft multimodal inland port boasts 337 acres of developable land and a 35 acre rail freight terminal, offering warehousing opportunities and development ready plots combined with a range of speculatively developed units.

 

Doncaster Sheffield Airport

The recent launch of the Masterplan outlines the expected growth on the 1600 acre site over the next 20 years, realising the airport’s full potential as a major catalyst for transforming the North of England, creating employment, housing and aviation capacity. Infrastructure plans are already in place which could see a rail station connected to the East Coast Mainline. This would be truly game-changing not only in improving the airport’s ability to handle freight, but to open up its catchment area wider. This International development is one of only 25 in the World and offers a World class tournament 18-hole championship course surrounded by 400 aspirational homes backed by the parkland setting of Rossington Hall. Enquiries are being sought from leisure and residential developers for this prestigious mixed use development.

 

360 Degree Media – TV and Film Studio

One of the biggest creative digital and media schemes in the county is taking place on the former High Melton, Doncaster College campus in Doncaster. This £64m investment will see the development of 7 sound stages for filming and a dedicated visual FX studio.
