Dan Clinton

A former farmer turned mortgage expert with a mission to help people into homes, Dan Clinton leads The Mortgage Works – the UK’s largest lender to private residential landlords.

His journey began on the family farm and in other family-run businesses before and after school. After studying Management Sciences at the University of Southampton, he started his professional journey at JP Morgan, later moving into pricing with Diageo in Sydney, Australia. Since then, he has built nearly 20 years of experience in financial services, becoming a specialist in mortgages, housing, and the Private Rental Sector. His expertise spans product management, pricing, data and insights, distribution, transformation, risk, governance, and controls. He is a commercially focused, strategic thinker who sees the big picture and brings entrepreneurial flair to problem-solving. He believes in challenging convention and exploring the art of the possible.

He is passionate about helping people secure the most basic need—a roof over their head—and driving a thriving, sustainable Private Rental Sector. He is curious about how technology can unlock solutions to housing challenges, from infrastructure and mobility to affordability, homelessness, and environmental impact.

Beyond work, he is a proud husband and dad to his wife Gemma and their two daughters, Phoebe and Bonnie. He loves travelling, sports, scuba diving, and believes life is one big adventure.
