James Rodgers, PhD, FRHistS

James Rodgers, PhD, FRHistS is Reader in International Politics and Media at City St George’s, University of London. His main research areas are contemporary Russian history, and the journalism of armed conflict. He is author of five books on international affairs, the most recent of which, The Return of Russia: from Yeltsin to Putin, the Story of a Vengeful Kremlin, was published in 2026 by Yale University Press. Prior to his academic career, James was a journalist, completing postings as BBC correspondent in Moscow, Brussels, and Gaza.
