Sheila Gilmore

Sheila Gilmore is the CEO of VisitArran, the not-for-profit destination management organisation (DMO) on the beautiful Isle of Arran, off Scotland’s west coast.  Sheila has led VisitArran to be one of the leading DMOs in Europe, winning many awards.  She also manages the Arran Trust, the island’s visitor gifting scheme, and a registered charity that supports community projects to keep Arran looking good for generations to come. 

A native Arranach, Sheila is passionate about her island, and believes in genuine and authentic marketing, to encourage responsible visitors to enjoy all that Arran has to offer; if it is good for community, then it’s good for the resident, and then it will be good for the visitor. She has received several personal accolades including Most Influential CEO - Destination Management Organisation and been listed in the Top 100 Business Women in Scotland and Top 100 Women in Tourism. Sheila also Chairs Arran Geopark, which was successfully inscribed by UNESCO as a Global Geopark in April 2025.
