Fiona Cane

Fiona is the Programme Integration Director for the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) at Network Rail, leading cross-industry integration, early-stage development, and the delivery of outcomes that will realise planned benefits.

Fiona began her career in social housing development and construction, delivering social value through effective project management and progressing into development feasibility and financial modelling to optimise investment outcomes. She joined the rail industry over a decade ago, applying transferable commercial skills to develop innovative funding models that unlock investment, particularly for station and depot enhancements. This included leading the delivery of the Exeter Depot new build, which won the Rail Industry Association Infrastructure Project of the Year in 2021.

In 2021, Fiona joined TransPennine Express to lead its Delivery Partnership team of 70 people working on TRU. The role spanned fleet procurement, customer and operational planning during disruption, construction interfaces, and ETCS mobilisation. She was recognised on the Northern Power Women “Future List” for driving change across the North.

Fiona is passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing inclusive, high-performing leadership.
